Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton had an interview with Peter King recently and was talking glowingly about QB Russell Wilson.  Payton isn’t worrying about his quarterback, so perhaps that means other people should not worry.  Payton was brought in as head coach of the Denver Broncos earlier this offseason.

Sean Payton is being tasked with getting Wilson back to his old self, and if you read what Payton has said about his quarterback recently, that task doesn’t seem to be too hard for the future Hall of Fame head coach.  Payton interviewed with Peter King recently, and obviously his quarterback came up.  Here’s what the former Saints head coach had to say about Wilson:

"“I would say this: He’s going to be a lot closer to those 2021 numbers than the 2022 numbers, just because I’m seeing it,”“And so, I don’t see any physical limitation that’s different from ’20 or even ’21. I see that player,” Payton told King. “And so, not rehashing last season — because clearly, it was different, all of us saw it and it was like it was almost like the weekly update. And I get it, you know, because, look, you and I both know what sells. It’s the fantastic stories, or the ‘Holy cow, what’s going on?’ Everything else in the middle doesn’t do it.”"

He’s pretty plainly laying out what he truly thinks about Russell Wilson.  And if you think about, no one else’s opinion matters, right?  Payton is the one running the offense and calling the balls, so if this is what he truly thinks about his quarterback, then the Denver Broncos should be in great shape for the 2023 NFL season and beyond.
