Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Rams, 8:15 PM ET
This could absolutely be a Super Bowl preview. The Monday Night Football showdown to officially put a bow on Week 5 features two juggernauts in Buffalo and Los Angeles.
Both teams are very good, but both teams do have some flaws. The Bills are 3-1 on the season, but QB Josh Allen really hasn’t played that well in the past two games. Allen has thrown one touchdown pass against three interceptions during this stretch, and this could be the part of his season where he endures a rough stretch.
Allen does this mostly every year - he’ll look unstoppable for a period of time before having some rough outings following that. He figures it out, as we can all see, as he’s among the best players in the NFL, but the sloppy play from Allen is not uncommon.
The defense has also not been that good this year, either. Buffalo’s unit ranks just 25th in points allowed per game. The top-ranked scoring offense is what has kept them in games and has helped them start 3-1.
The Rams come into this game having needed a fourth quarter comeback just to defeat Philadelphia and get to 2-2. This is still a great team, though, and they have managed to play quite well despite all of the injuries they’ve dealt with.
This should be a back-and-forth game - both Los Angeles and Buffalo can have high-powered offenses, and both defenses have made some plays this year. The Rams are at home, so they get a slight advantage, and Allen’s current stretch of poor play does make the Bills beatable.
But with that said, Matthew Stafford hasn’t been great this year, either. This is truly a coin flip, and if you think the Bills win, I won’t argue with you at all. I’m going with the Rams in this one, as this is a huge game; it’s in the Rams house, and the duo of Stafford and Sean McVay is stronger than that of Allen and Joe Brady, the Bills first-year head coach.
Los Angeles wins this one by two points thanks to a late-game field goal to take the lead.
