Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts, 1:00 PM ET
In a battle of 0-2 AFC South teams, this game might come down to which defense isn't horrific, to be honest. Houston's defense has been uncharacteriscally bad through two weeks, and the Indianapolis Colts defense has been predictably bad, as they don't have a top pass-rusher and are weak at inside linebacker.
Both teams don't feel like anything close to playoff squads at the moment, but for different reasons, both teams probably have to make the playoffs this year. The Texans have advanced into the Divisional Round all three years of CJ Stroud's career, but Stroud's play has regressed since his rookie season, and Houston has obviously not been able to get over the hump.
And with Stroud not playing great football, the Texans front office doesn't seem to be in a rush to offer him a contract extension. On the flip side, the Colts have cycled through a ton of different QBs over the years, and the one constant has been General Manager Chris Ballard, who has had a rather mediocre tenure.
With how long Ballard has been on the job, the 2026 season could truly be a do-or-die season for the GM. The Colts have less roster talent than the Colts and are probably weaker at QB, as Daniel Jones has mostly been a bad player throughout his career.
I like Houston to earn their first win of the season despite this being an away game. The Texans do have a much more recent track record of winning and have advantages on the coaching staff and on the field.
Houston did begin the year 0-3 in 2025 before flipping a swtch and winning 12 of their next 14. The Texans will probably be fine this year and should earn their first win of the season in Wee k3.
Prediction: Texans win 24-23
