Washington Commanders (1-3-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (5-0)

Monday, October 19, 8:15 PM ET

The Washington Commanders just put on an absolute clinic on how not to finish a game, while the 49ers had their backs against the wall really for the first time this season, and they found a way to come back and win on the road against the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks.

These two teams know each other really well with Commanders GM Adam Peters coming over from the 49ers’ front office a couple of years ago, but these are two teams heading completely opposite directions.

The 49ers appear to be on the fast track to the #1 seed in the NFC. The Commanders appear to be on the fast track to wholesale changes after the season is done.

Even with a two-touchdown lead against the Giants in Week 5, the Commanders found a way to absolutely blow it in both regulation and in overtime. That Washington defense can’t stop a runny nose right now, and the 49ers have one of the most well-oiled machines offensively in the entire league.

It feels like the only shot the Commanders have in this game is if the 49ers are out there making a ton of mistakes, and Jayden Daniels is able to put on his cape and play his best game of the year.

You never know in the NFL…

The 49ers are 7.5-point favorites at home, and they should be able to take care of business. I could see the Commanders hanging around for three quarters, but the 49ers are going to pull away at some point in the second half.

Prediction: 49ers win 33-23
