We're just under four months away from the Super Bowl, so there is a long way to go, but at the same time, the 2026 NFL regular season is almost halfway done, which is wild to think about. As of now, there are a few shocking developments in the league this year team-wise.

But, for the most part, the league hierarchy has shook out as expected. The coming weeks as we near the trade deadline will be crucial for certain teams, as the fun has really only just begun, as more trades are surely going to be made, and the playoff races will heat up more.

Let's dive into a prediction exercise and predict the most likely Super Bowl matchups this year with Week 8 beginning.

Predicting the most likely Super Bowl matchups entering Week 8

5. Cincinnati Bengals vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Cincinnati Bengals made a Super Bowl run back in 2021 and appear to have everything in place, as the defense has been much improved this season, and as long as Joe Burrow is on the field, the offense is in good hands.

Now 4-2 on the season and facing Tennessee in Week 8, the Bengals should keep stacking the wins and might have the most complete team of the Burrow era. As for the Minnesota Vikings, the undefeated team is getting Super Bowl-caliber play from their defense already, and even with the offense still being in that 'mediocre' category, they keep winning.

That give you some perspective on just how much better this team can be later in the season if the offense gets itself figured out.

4. Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers

We've seen this Super Bowl matchup twice since the 2019 season. While the Kansas City Chiefs to have some major personnel concerns on offense, the team is 5-1 on the season, and there is a level of 'it's the Chiefs' that is still at play here. It has felt like, over the years, that this team somehow continued to find a way when others would write their obituary.

While I do not personally think this is a Super Bowl team this year, I'm not sure any of us would be shocked, and as for the San Francisco 49ers, they're 6-1 on the season and getting MVP level play from quarterback Brock Purdy.

The defense has also been lights out, and if this team can somehow find a way to get just a little bit healthier as the season goes on, a Super Bowl berth feels likely.
