Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs won six games all of 2025, and already have five wins entering Week 8. The Chiefs went out and made what has been the best move of the offseason in signing Kenneth Walker III, but that move has not really made the passing attack come alive.
For years now, the Chiefs have had subpar play at wide receiver, as it's just been a position that GM Brett Veach cannot get right. Tyquan Thornton has been out, Rashee Rice is not a No. 1, and Xavier Worthy is probably not a No. 2.
Of Patrick Mahomes' 1,474 passing yards this year, 925 have come after the catch. This just isn't an offense that can consistently push the ball down the field. Despite having the QB for it and a solid offensive line in pass protection, the personnel at wide receiver simply makes it nearly impossible for Kansas City to operate a downfield passing attack.
With names like Downs and Brian Thomas Jr. potentially available, and perhaps even more names in the near future, the Chiefs have to make a move. Mahomes is again in a position where he has to carry a bigger load than he needs to. His front office has largely failed him at WR for years now, as this offense has been capped ever since the major Tyreek Hill trade.
And in a year where the Chiefs do have a legitimate shot at winning the AFC West crown, getting that last push would make all the sense in the world, and if Veach is someone who simply can't draft good enough players at WR, the best course of action is to trade that capital for established players.
The Chiefs adding a wide receiver would complete this offense going forward and give the team a shot at the Super Bowl.
