Washington Commanders: 8
So, QB Jayden Daniels is not going on injured reserve:
Commanders QB Jayden Daniels will not be placed on injured reserve, sources confirmed to @RapSheet and me. But I am not sure that is going to make a massive difference for the Washington Commanders. I do believe there is reason to panic with Daniels, as he's already dislocated his left elbow multiple times in the NFL, and, after playing in every game his rookie season, the injuries have begun to pile up.
Daniels is a dual-threat QB and does have a leaner frame, so I guess it's not a major shock that he's dealing with injuries. For the franchise, though, that could not be less ideal. The schedule doesn't get much easier in the following weeks, either:
Week 3 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Week 4 vs. Indianapolis Colts
Week 5 vs. New York Giants
Week 6 @ San Francisco 49ers
Week 8 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Rams
As we just talked about with the Chargers - where would the Commanders find their first win here? Even with Daniels in the lineup, the offensive line is still a mess, and the defense has oddly been terrible.
This team just isn't good. The roster talent isn't there, and outside of landing Daniels in the 2024 NFL Draft, I am not sure there is much else for this regime to hang their hats on right now. Washington doesn't do anything particularly well and don't have the personnel on either side of the ball to stack some wins in the coming weeks.
This 0-2 start feels, unfortuantely, appropriate for the Commanders franchise, and there could be a point in time where some major in-season changes get made unless they somehow figure out a way to find that spark from the 2024 season.
It is time to panic for Washington.
