There are some intriguing matchups on this week’s schedule, including a Thursday night clash between the AFC’s and the NFC’s top playoff seed from 2025.
Arguably, the biggest surprise from last week was watching the supposedly-downtrodden Green Bay Packers blowing out the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field. Or was it the then-winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning at Dallas on a Thursday evening?
As for last week’s selections, the Miami Dolphins did indeed come up with a season high in points in their 31-24 setback to the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals could not pull off the upsets at home in facing the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, respectively.
Let’s take a look at three potential upsets that could take place on Sunday.
Here are 3 bold predictions for NFL Week 6
Panthers pull off mini-upset in the City of Brotherly Love
Dave Canales’s well-rested team heads north to Philadelphia to take on an Eagles’ team in the midst of a surprising three-game losing streak. The first-place Panthers were off a week ago, but the last time the team took the field, quarterback Bryce Young and wideout Tetairoa McMillan were abusing the Detroit Lions’ secondary in a 32-26 Sunday night win at Charlotte.
Could Nick Sirianni’s club still be in a London fog after last week’s stunning 19-17 loss overseas to the Jacksonville Jaguars? Philadelphia’s offense is actually ranked next-to-last in the league in total yards per game, and the Birds are averaging only 18.4 points per game. The Eagles will have problems keeping pace with Carolina’s much-improved attack.
Browns gets back on track vs. visiting Ravens
Cleveland saw its three-game losing streak snapped by the New York Jets last Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Todd Monken’s team gained only 198 total yards, while Deshaun Watson was sacked eight times and lost one of his three fumbles in a 17-12 setback. He completed just 15-of-33 throws for 155 yards and one score. The Browns have scored a combined 22 points in their two losses this season.
This week, they host the rival Baltimore Ravens. Jesse Minter’s club escaped Atlanta last Sunday night with a 30-23 overtime victory. Both of these AFC North squads have shown enough vulnerability on defense, which may suggest a high-scoring affair…and in this instance, a late game-winning field goal by Cleveland’s Andre Szmyt.
Buccaneers’ ground game extends Steelers’ 2026 road woes
Under head coach Mike McCarthy, the Black and Gold have fallen into a pattern that could doom their playoff chances this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers have alternated wins and losses in each of their first five games, which means they are 3-0 at home, with road losses to the Patriots and Browns.
Last Thursday night at AT&T Stadium, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ running back Bucky Irving ran for one touchdown and caught a TD pass as Todd Bowles’ team got its first win of the season by stunning the Cowboys, 24-16. Irving finished with 165 of Tampa’s 241 rushing yards. The Steelers’ defense has been very average at best this season, and don’t be shocked if the Bucs get their first home win in four tries this season.
