Carolina Panthers
One of the more 'whelming' teams in the sport, the Carolina Panthers are 3-3 on the season and are 11-11 in Bryce Young's starts dating back to the start of the 2025 NFL Season. I understand that Young has taken some positive steps forward in 2025 and 2026, but the Panthers again just seem to be an average football team. Like the Steelers, where do the Panthers stand out?
They went 8-9 last year and won the NFC South, and with how bad the division looks this year, there is a non-zero chance another 8-9 record would be good enough. Now in year four of the Young era, the roster itself is fine, the quarterback is fine, and the coaching staff is fine.
Fine does not win Super Bowls. In my opinion, we have seen enough from this current era to know that there isn't much more here. Carolina should sell and build for the future.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders are now 3-4 on the season after a 3-0 start. The team does appear to be in better hands this year than in previous years, which is not nothing. Kirk Cousins has also played respectable football this year.
The Raiders also do have the infrastructure to see long-term success, but that's the key here - long-term.
Moving some of their older players, like Maxx Crosby, even, would give the Raiders more draft capital to focus in on building around Fernando Mendoza, as 2026 is clearly more of a evaluation year. Mendoza should get some starts this year, but we aren't going to many any sort of declarations on his future if he plays, let's say, five games in 2026.
The Raiders appear to be a frisky team if nothing else and would probably finish with 7 or 8 wins if Cousins started all 17 games, but it would make more sense to continue this roster shuffle for the future with Mendoza's development in mind.
