27. Dallas Cowboys - Kelley Jones, CB, Mississippi State
Credit where it’s due - the Dallas Cowboys absolutely needed to get better on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, and it seems like they did. Two of the more notable additions that I’m excited to see are Jalen Thompson and Caleb Downs, but the work might not yet be done in the secondary.
The CB inconsistencies over the years could force the Cowboys to hunt for more young talent in the NFL Draft, so Kelley Jones was the pick here. Jones had 11 passes defended last year and is a massive CB at 6-4.
Dallas needs to keep stacking talent on this side of the ball, as the offense always seems to be in good hands with Dak Prescott under center, and there are more known commodities on that side of the ball at the moment, so we could be in for more defensive emphasis.
28. Kansas City Chiefs - Mario Craver, WR, Texas A&M
Mario Craver is the pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in our latest mock draft. The Chiefs are an interesting team, as it’s clear that the dynasty that helped them win three Super Bowls is all but over, as the roster is young and inexperienced, and many of the key players that helped them win it all are now either not with the team or aging out of their prime years.
Kansas City won just six games last year, so this team does need to get through this transition period on the right side. One position that has hurt them for years now is receiver, and this could simply be an instance of the front office continuing to take swings in the NFL Draft until they land on legitimate players.
He is a more undersized, speed guy, and it does seem like the Chiefs have been missing that type of player in the offense ever since Tyreek Hill’s departure.
