The 2026 college football season is underway, and the NFL has already been hard at work for months, conducting preliminary research on what could be a historic 2027 NFL Draft class.
The 2027 NFL Draft is going to be absolutely loaded. And if Week 1 of the college season is any indication, we might be in for more than we bargained for.
This upcoming class has it all, from star power at the quarterback position to blue-chip prospects at premium positions like wide receiver, offensive tackle, and edge rusher. This is a deep class of top-tier prospects the NFL absolutely can't wait to get their hands on, and it's going to be an absolute blast following along to see which players are rising up the board each week.
Now that Week 1 of the college season is in the books and Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season is upon us, we're going to take a look at a brand-new 1st-round 2027 NFL mock draft prediction, and a closer look at some of the top players in this upcoming class. (Draft order comes from Tankathon)
2027 NFL Mock Draft: Arch Manning on top of 1st-round predictions
1. Arizona Cardinals: Arch Manning, QB, Texas
The Arizona Cardinals are in a long rebuilding process right now, and they need a quarterback to be a centerpiece. We'll see what the season brings for Carson Beck, but unless he blows them away with whatever opportunity he might get, it feels like QB is a no-brainer for this team.
The bigger question might be, "What coach would Arch Manning be playing for?"
Arizona has at least some intriguing core pieces to build around, and Arch Manning has the talent to be a franchise-altering player.
2. Miami Dolphins: Dante Moore, QB, Oregon
You can't overreact to Week 1 of the College Football season, but Dante Moore looks like he's going to be in the conversation for the #1 overall pick all season long. He's got all of the physical traits to be an impact starter at the next level, and we'll see how well it serves him to go back to school for one more year and hone his craft.
He would be an ideal pickup for a Dolphins team that is in the beginning stages of a youth movement.
3. New York Jets: Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State
The New York Jets would have a brutally tough decision to make here. Do they take the 3rd QB on their board, or do they take Jeremiah Smith and see what happens later in the 1st round? The Jets have 3 first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft thanks to GM Darren Mougey never seeing a trade he didn't like.
Taking Smith here would be the smart move, unless the Jets truly have a trio of QBs on their board that have QB1 grades. Smith is one of the best receiver prospects we've ever seen.
4. Cleveland Browns: Darian Mensah, QB, Miami
The Cleveland Browns don't have the luxury of passing on QB3 on their board for the #1 player in the class, so they have every reason to "settle" for a QB in this spot.
And Darian Mensah doesn't really feel like "settling" based on what we saw in his first game with the Miami Hurricanes. Mensah was accurate, he saw the field well, and he showed the type of upside that will get NFL scouts flocking to Miami to see him play all year long.
