2. Buffalo Bills (5-1)
The Buffalo Bills are the No. 2 seed in the AFC right now and are ahead of the 4-3 New England Patriots, who lost in Week 7. The Bills are sporting the No. 1 ranked scoring offense in the NFL right now, but they have the 30th ranked scoring defense.
Through just six games, the defense has already given up 15 passing touchdowns. It's simply not a sustainble way for this unit to continue playing. The issue Buffalo is going to find themselves in is if the defense does not improve, which would force QB Josh Allen to have to play hero ball for this team to keep winning games.
And while he can do this, Allen is still good for those boneheaded mistakes or rough outings from time to time. Allen is a big-game hunter and doesn't always take the easy route, which comes back to bite him here and there.
Right now, being 5-1 is a great spot for Buffalo to be it, but it's been far from perfect.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
Another very flawed 5-1 team, the Kansas City Chiefs are still the top seed in the AFC, but this team will need to get better at wide receiver, which could come at the trade deadline. The defense is also rather underwhelming across the board talent-wise despite being very well coached.
The Chiefs lost in blowout fashion in Week 7 in what was clearly their toughest game of the year, and with the schedule only getting harder, you naturally have to wonder how much longer the Chiefs can keep this standing in the conference.
It's really not crazy to think that the Chiefs end up falling behind the Broncos in the AFC West again. If that doesn't happen, though, we'll need to see other playmakers step up not named Kenneth Walker III.
