Not a bad start for the first week of the season, eh? While I didn't hit them all, there were a handful of bold quarterback predictions I laid out for Week 1 that actually came close and, in some cases, hit, like Emeka Egbuka catching two touchdown passes from Baker Mayfield.

On to Week 2, however, and keeping the spicy takes alive and well.

Week 1 saw some games come down to the wire. Others, not so much. But, in the end, quarterback play was at the center of it all, as per usual.

How exactly are we going to be surprised after an eventful opening week? Let's kick it off with ... Danny Dimes, of all names.

Daniel Jones keeps his hot start going against the Broncos

Who would have ever thought Daniel Jones would start the season busting out of the gates like he did against Miami? Actually, that's one prediction I was dangerously close on last week, if you switch the rushing scores in for passing.

Anyway, this Broncos defense held the Titans to a measly 133 yards of total offense. Yet, I am going to predict Jones goes for over 250 yards passing and scores twice in this one. Is it as big of a game as he had in Week 1? No, but against an elite Denver defense, Jones gives the Colts a great chance to win.

In the end, Denver comes away with the victory. But, Jones looks a whole lot better than we would've expected against a top defensive unit.

Jordan Love and Jayden Daniels combine for 700 total yards on TNF

Considering the Commanders defense held the Giants to just six points and Green Bay held the Lions to that very same number all the way up until there was a minute left in the game, this certainly constitutes as bold.

This is under the lights. It's on a shorter week. Defenses don't get the extra days' rest. And, it's a game between two NFC contenders that boast a pair of top young quarterbacks in the conference.

For what it's worth, Love only threw for 188 yards against Detroit. Jayden Daniels, meanwhile, went for 301 total yards against New York. Together, they're going to combine for over 200 more than what they amassed in Week 1.

Caleb Williams leads the Bears to 30-plus points against Detroit

The Lions watched Green Bay put up a respectable 27 points in their Week 1 defeat. But, Detroit's defense looked all out of sorts at times. It could have been much worse. The Lions failed to sack Jordan Love at all while also being denied even a single takeaway.

This Lions team looked like one without an identity on either side.

And now, they have to go up against a coach who knows them better than just about anyone in Ben Johnson. The Bears are going into Detroit and putting up 30-plus points on Johnson's old team.

Cam Ward has to wait another week for his first NFL touchdown

In four of the Rams' last five games, their defense has not allowed an opposing offense to score more than nine points. That dates back to last year, of course, but much of this Rams defense is still intact from last year. The four quarterbacks Los Angeles have held to under 10 points scoring? CJ Stroud, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers and Brock Purdy.

That's a pretty solid list. But, to be truthful, it's an impressive feat to hold any team under 10 points these days.

Cam Ward's first career start was against a nasty Broncos defense, and this Rams defense is not far behind. They're quietly one of the tougher units in this league.

Cowboys make sure Russell Wilson gets his second and last start of 2025

Never mind the fact that Philly beat the Cowboys in Week 1. It almost went the other direction if CeeDee Lamb had remembered how to catch a football. The Cowboys held Jalen Hurts to just 144 net yards passing. Granted, the Eagles did rush for over 150 on the ground, but that's besides the point.

Russell Wilson looked abysmal in Week 1 against the Commanders. This Cowboys defense actually looked pretty fair against the defending champs, even without Micah Parsons.

In this one, the Cowboys make Russell Wilson look like Cade McNown and force Brian Daboll into a very early shift at quarterback.

Giants fans will thank the Cowboys for officially bringing on the Jaxson Dart era.
