6. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff did finish fifth in the MVP voting back in the 2024 NFL Season, and I really believe Goff is a QB who deserves more credit. He's thrown no fewer than 29 touchdown passes the last four seasons and does have a winning record each year during that stretch.
He's been able to put up eye-popping statistics in much of his tenure with the Detroit Lions, as this team also won 27 regular season games between the 2023 and 2024 seasons. If the Lions can finally get this defense healthy, which has unfortunately not been the case for the last two seasons (how much longer can it last...?) Goff and the Lions would be able to stack a ton of wins, and that always helps for a QB's MVP case.
5. Drake Maye, New England Patriots
Drake Maye nearly won the MVP award in the 2025 season, so with as close as he just got, he should be on this list for 2026. Maye obviously lost out to Matthew Stafford, but Maye himself was electric and hitting new heights in overall efficiency.
Yes, the New England Patriots' schedule does get a lot harder for 2026, but there is also a rock-solid chance that Maye and the Patriots are simply an excellent team and here to stay.
4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson won the MVP award in 2019 and 2023, and he honestly should have won the award in 2024, which I'd argue was the best season of his actual MVP campaigns. Jackson is the best dual-threat QB of all-time, and while he does get banged up here and there, he's also been able to stay on the field and produce unlike any QB we've seen play this game.
What would stop Jackson from beginning the year healthy, staying healthy throughout the season, and carving out another MVP season?
