Through the first five weeks of the 2026 NFL Season, there are three winless teams remaining, and they are all in the AFC. We did see a pair of winless AFC teams play in Week 5, so I guess we were bound to have one less winless team.
Being 0-5 in the NFL probably a massive signal that things are over. While there could be a chance that one of these teams makes some sort of push, they would likely need to go 10-2 over their final 12 games to have a chance to make the playoffs, for example.
With the three winless teams left in the NFL, which club is the best? Let's power-rank the trio here.
Los Angeles Chargers are still the 'best' winless team in football through five weeks
3. Miami Dolphins
The thing with the Miami Dolphins is that they were clearly supposed to be a bad team this year, but this is getting out of hand. I'm not sure it's a stretch to say that this team could flirt with finishing 0-17 this year. While the team is playing hard, if nothing else, and the early returns from the rookie class are encouraging, the Dolphins, right now, are abysmal.
This doesn't mean that things can't begin to get figured out in 2027 and beyond. They'll likely have one of the top two picks in the 2027 NFL Draft and are almost guaranteed to land a top quarterback prospect. If they hit on that QB, many of their other issues will disappear overnight.
Miami is going to continue to be an team that other teams look at as being a 'get-right game.' It's the harsh reality for this franchise, but if they have patience, and if the front office can bring the right players in, there will indeed be some light at the end of the tunnel and reason for optimism.
