I guess it's not the biggest surprise in the world that the Cleveland Browns have named Deshaun Watson as the starting quarterback, but with how inconsistent both have been this offseason, it really would not be a shock if both Watson and now-backup QB Shedeur Sanders started multiple games.

The Browns clearly need to detonate this QB room as soon as possible, and with the team not projected to be very good, the 2027 NFL Offseason could truly present a chance for the team to start fresh at a position that has plagued them for years.

With Watson being announced as the starter, let's power-rank the 16 AFC starting passers.

Power-ranking the AFC QBs following Cleveland Browns decision

16. Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns

Watson has 'earned' the starting job for the Browns, but this could end up getting ugly pretty fast. Watson simply hasn't been a playable QB since his prime days with the Houston Texans, which feels like a lifetime ago.

There is a sliver of a chance that Watson looks competent, as new Browns head coach Todd Monken does have a solid track record of fielding efficient passing attacks, which could ultimately help Watson.

At the end of the day, though, this is someone who is very likely not going to be a starter for very long, and depending on how bad this latest season goes, we could be watching Watson's final games in the NFL.

15. Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins

Malik Willis is No. 15 in our AFC QB rankings. The thing with Willis is that he simply does not have much starting experience, which means we can't rank him that high for the time being.

One huge thing that goes against Willis is that the Miami Dolphins don't have much talent on offense. Yes, De'Von Achane exists, but that's really about it. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are gone, and the offensive line isn't that good, either.

Willis could be a frisky option, but it's not likely he emerges as anything special.
