2. Minnesota Vikings (5-0)
The Minnesota Vikings are 5-0 and might not even be in their final form yet. The offense is still a bit of a work in progress, as Kyler Murray has slowly improved this year but hasn't really hit his stride yet. The defense, though, is flat-out dominant, so much so that it's now probably only a matter of time before Brian Flores, their defensive coordinator, gets another had coaching job.
The Vikings being this much of a winning team nearly every year without a stable QB situation is a testament to how good of a head coach Kevin O'Connell is, and it's not a stretch to think that the Vikings could end up being the NFC's top playoff seed if Murray becomes more comfortable in the offense as 2026 rolls on.
It feels like another day at the office when the Vikings take the field. This 5-0 start just doesn't feel all that special, but in a good way.
1. San Francisco 49ers (5-0)
The San Francisco 49ers top our NFC power rankings with Week 6 here. The 49ers are again dealing with major injuries on both sides of the ball, and, somewhat similarly to the Vikings, this team is probably not at their final form yet.
It's much easier said than done, but the health improving as the year goes on would have the Niners all but guaranteed to at least make a run to the NFC Championship Game. Brock Purdy is probably the MVP of the league right now, and the defense is playing lights-out.
Could this year finally be the year that Kyle Shanahan is able to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl? He's been to the big game twice but has come away empty-handed both times. The 49ers seem to be good enough this year.
