3. Todd Bowles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Todd Bowles takes the No. 3 spot in our power rankings. Historically, Bowles just hasn't been a good head coach. He has a career losing record and has never won more than 10 games in a season. Not counting the 2026 campaign, or 2011, when he assumed head coaching duties for three games, Bowles has five losing seasons and three winning seasons.
He owns a 35-34 record with the Buccaneers right now, and while the Bucs have been to the playoffs three times in the Bowles era, there just isn't any sort of extra gear with this team. While the roster isn't overwhelmingly good, I'm not sure Tampa can keep this current regime up if the ceiling is going to be 10 wins and a first-round playoff loss.
Bowles has to be viewed as being on the hot seat.
2. Shane Steichen, Indianapolis Colts
Shane Steichen got put into a rough situation, as the Indianapolis Colts have not had a franchise quarterback since the prime days of Andrew Luck. While Daniel Jones has largely played good football for the Colts, he's far from a franchise passer.
Much of the blame needs to fall on the shoulders of GM Chris Ballard, but Steichen can't be out of the woods. The Colts did begin the 2025 season 7-1 before finishing with just eight wins after a second-half collapse.
Steichen would logically take some of the blame for that, as he is the head coach and the one that stirs this drink. The Colts have some far deeper problems than the head coach, but another ho-hum season could lead to some much-needed major change.
1. Aaron Glenn, New York Jets
Aaron Glenn tops our power rankings. The New York Jets did win in Week 1, but in the coming weeks, they'll play Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, and New England.
There may only be one win over their next five games. A 2-4 start is realistic, and it's not like the Jets don't have other tougher opponents coming. Even last year, his first year on the job, Glenn seemed to be in way over his head and was struggling with in-game decisions at times. The Jets also somehow went the entire season without recording an interception, which is beyond ridiculous.
The Jets did give Glenn a much-improved roster this season, but with a trio of first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, and the need for QB stability, there is a scenario where the Jets part with Glenn unless a major record shift takes place and likely bring in an offensive-minded coach who can set that foundation for the development of a likely rookie QB coming in 2027.
