8. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1)
The Jacksonville Jaguars were trending toward beating Denver in Week 2, but then the Broncos happened. In typical Broncos fashion, the team mounted a late-game comeback, and Trevor Lawrence also just fell flat on his face in the second half.
After beating the Broncos in blowout fashion at home near the end of the 2025 season, the Broncos got a bit of revenge. Lawrence was pressured more than you’d like him to be, and I believe that speaks to a bigger issue with this team.
While they’re quite good and will again win a ton of games this year, the top-end roster talent just is not there yet. This regime is only in year two of the rebuild, and there is still a bit to undo from the previous era.
Until the Jaguars are able to find just a small handful of truly elite players, they’ll continue to top-out as a ‘team you want to be a contender but just isn’t good enough’
And while I did just get done saying they don’t have a ton of top-end talent, they’re among the most well-coached in the sport and deserve to be ranked inside the top-10.
7. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
The Philadelphia Eagles struggled against Tennessee. That isn’t good, folks. In fact, Philly just barely got past Washington and Tennessee, two teams that are… bad.
I might come to regret ranking the Eagles this high, but being able to finish games is an indicator of a well-coached team that knows what they are doing. At least for now, we’ll rank the Eagles high and stand on that ranking.
They do have enough talent to make the playoffs for the sixth year in a row, and this team has ‘been there, done that’ many times before. While I so badly want to rank this team lower, I am not sure it would be fair or accurate for now.
We’ll see if Philly can begin playing some more consistent football in the coming weeks.
