4. Cincinnati Bengals, 4-2
The Cincinnati Bengals are going to have something to say in the playoffs at this rate. After a blowout win over Baltimore in Week 7, the Bengals moved to 4-2 on the season and are keeping pace with the rest of the AFC North.
Thus far, Joe Burrow might just be the best QB in the sport, and the defense does appear to be coming together nicely. Having not been to the playoffs since 2022, you really get the sense that this is a deep playoff run or 'bust' type of season.
Seeing as the Bengals made a run to the Super Bowl in 2021, those who were around for that are probably getting the same feeling this year if they don't crater.
3. Denver Broncos, 5-2
The Denver Broncos have had one of the toughest schedules in the NFL thus far and are 5-2 without their offense having yet hit its stride. If nothing else, that should tell you just how good this unit can be, as the schedule is going to soften up as the season ends.
Bo Nix's performance has come under fire this year, but it's important to remember that Nix missed a large chunk of offseason reps due to his ankle injury recovery. Nix and the offense could end up playing their best ball as the season goes on, and it's clear that the defense is still elite.
2. Kansas City Chiefs, 5-1
The Kansas City Chiefs are No. 2 in our AFC power rankings after a very disappointing Sunday Night Football loss against the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs have major roster flaws and don't really have much else on offense outside of Kenneth Walker III. If teams can limit Walker's impact, the offense won't be effective.
The roster itself is a lot closer to average than I believe some people want to think, but it's hard to argue with a 5-1 record at the moment.
1. Buffalo Bills, 5-1
The Buffalo Bills offense is electric, but the defense is not. Buffalo might need to keep winning in shootout fashion in order to keep this pace up, but with a 'one of one' QB in Josh Allen in the mix, it's possible.
The Bills are an overwhelming team at times when Allen is at his best, and the defense is plenty talented enough to improve, so that may only be a matter of time. Buffalo stands atop of our power rankings as Week 8 approaches.
