For the most part, there have not been a ton of surprises this year. With Week 8 already on the horizon and November coming soon, we're going to truly be approaching the 'meat' of the season, which is where the playoff races heat up and we see a clear divide between the contenders and pretenders.
For the main Super Bowl contenders, whether on the bye in Week 7 or playing, they've wrapped up the latest week of football and will attempt to keep their foot on the gas, perhaps even turning to the NFL Trade Deadline in a couple of weeks to try and shore up any weak spots.
Let's get into our latest Super Bowl contender power rankings with Week 8 on the horizon.
Updated Super Bowl contender power rankings following Week 7 action
8. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
I almost did not put the Kansas City Chiefs on this list, but the Chiefs are still in a good spot overall in the AFC and still only have one loss. What we saw in Week 7, though, is a major cause for concern, but the team was coming into that game missing key players.
If the Chiefs had, for example, Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton in the lineup, the end result is probably a bit different than what we saw. With that said, the Chiefs may need to make as big a move as they possibly can for another wide receiver at the trade deadline, as this current personnel situation on offense just is not good enough.
7. Chicago Bears (5-2)
Caleb Williams has been excellent this year for the Chicago Bears, and now sitting at 5-2, the Bears are in a really solid spot to repeat as NFC North division champions. We are a long way from that, and there are three other competent teams in the division right now, but the path for the Bears to win the division for a second year in a row is obvious, as Williams appears to have the highest ceiling of any quarterback in the North at the moment.
The defense has also been noticeably better this year, so the Bears may have one of the more complete teams in the sport right now.
