6. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills were on their bye in Week 7, and it’s a much-needed bye, actually. Despite being 5-1 on the season, the Bills do have some major penalty and defensive concerns, which are things that will absolutely come back to bite the team later in the season if head coach Joe Brady can’t figure those things out.
The Bills may have to continue relying on Allen to carry the load, as the defense can’t stop a nosebleed at times, but when Allen is asked to do a lot, there are instances where he gets a bit sloppy and erratic with his play, and that’s when you see those boneheaded decisions come out.
That’s really the biggest issue with Allen, but he’s also turned himself into a generational QB and someone who likely has a bust in Canton one day. Through six games this year, there is also no indication that Allen still isn’t right in the middle of his prime, so, if nothing else, the Bills still appear to have their QB in his full form.
5. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence has been outstanding for the 4-2 Jacksonville Jaguars this year, a team on their bye in Week 7. The Jaguars appear to have a very good shot at winning the AFC South for a second year in a row, and Lawrence playing like an MVP candidate is going to continue to help those chances.
After some shaky years to begin his NFL career, Lawrence finally seems to be figuring things out alongside head coach Liam Coen. Lawrence already has three separate games this year with at least a trio of touchdown passes, and he’s thrown a touchdown pass in five of six games this year.
Lawrence is rapidly approaching that elite tier of QBs in this league, and in the eyes of some, he may already be there. In their final two games heading into the bye, Lawrence threw for 637 yards and six touchdowns.
He’s a high-volume, efficient player at the most important position in sports. He’s spectacular.
4. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams has been outstanding this year, and it’s not a stretch to think he needs to be put in the same tier with the best QBs in the NFL right now. While it’s still a small sample size from this year alone, Williams is making throws and creating plays that only a small handful of other players in the league can do.
The Bears have seen Williams take a ton of strides this year, as that pesky completion percentage is up, and he’s thrown just one interception on his five passing touchdowns. If the trends hold, and Williams keeps playing this well, he’ll likely find himself right in the think of the MVP race when the 2026 season ends.
And as for the Bears, this team is definitely trending toward another deep playoff run if Williams can keep this up. He rises in our QB power rankings.
