The phrase, "Any given Sunday," unfortunately doesn't apply to some NFL teams entering Week 2 of the 2026 season. It might just be best for a handful of teams to admit defeat and move on before the games even begin.
All kidding aside, there are some matchups entering Week 2 that are looking a little lopsided. You have to expect the unexpected when it comes to the NFL, and that's especially true early in the season.
We've already made our full slate of picks and game predictions for Week 2, but as the week goes along, your convictions on certain matchups become even stronger. Let's take a look at three NFL teams we think are all but "guaranteed" to lose. If you're in a survivor pool this season, here are a few games that could be potential layups in Week 2.
3 NFL teams all but guaranteed to lose in Week 2 matchups
1. Cleveland Browns (@ Buccaneers)
You might be thinking the Cleveland Browns are the lowest of the low-hanging fruit this week, but that's not the case. More on that later.
The Browns are heading to Tampa Bay on Sunday to take on a Buccaneers team that struggled with a case of fumble-itis against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Baker Mayfield himself fumbled a whopping total of three times, losing all three of them in a fairly embarrassing performance.
After getting a massive contract this offseason, Mayfield is going to be motivated after a rough start to the year to prove that Week 1 was a fluke, and the team that first discarded him is going to feel his wrath.
Obviously, the Browns looked incompetent in many ways against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, and they'll likely be making routine appearances in our "guaranteed to lose" series this season. The Browns are the worst team in the NFL, and they're going to prove it again in Week 2.
2. Miami Dolphins (@ 49ers)
Even with the travel to and from Australia, the San Francisco 49ers are entering their Week 2 matchup against the Miami Dolphins with some extra time to rest, and some extra time to enjoy their dominating win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.
The Dolphins are a team that is obviously rebuilding from the ground up. That doesn't mean they're going to go winless this season, but it does mean that there are going to be some rough weeks for them this season.
This will likely be one of them. Going out west for their second major road trip of the season already, they've got to find a way to try and stay as competitive as possible with a 49ers team that is simply a well-oiled machine by comparison.
This game has the biggest gap in terms of spread (49ers favored by 13.5) of the week, and it could very well end up being the biggest blowout.
3. Tennessee Titans (vs. Eagles)
The Tennessee Titans at least have home-field advantage going for them in a Week 2 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but that's really it.
The way Cam Ward played in Week 1, it's hard to see him thriving against a Vic Fangio-coached defense in Week 2. Ward has been so erratic with his passing, the Titans' offense looked all out of sorts against the Jets, and to think they are going to bounce back against this Eagles is a level of optimism I have not yet reached.
The Eagles opened up the week as 7-point favorites on the road. Considering they just beat the Washington Commanders in Week 1 with only 10 first downs offensively, this one could get ugly if the Eagles start firing on all cylinders offensively.
