The NFL playoffs are approaching, and some of the teams that have solidified spots or are competing for spots just simply don't deserve to be there. I love that the NFL has expanded the postseason to include seven teams from each conference, but it's a bit of a blessing and a curse given the way some teams have been playing as of late.
As we look around the league, what teams look like a shell of their former selves lately? I think there are a few teams that need to be put on blast for looking lackadaisickal at times this season, bordering (or not even bordering) on unworthy of an invitation to the postseason dance.
Let's call them out.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are champions of the AFC West for the 8th consecutive year. They have had one of the better defenses in the league all season. They are the reigning Super Bowl Champions.
And yet, the way they have played this season? Well, the Chiefs have looked like a shell of their former selves. They look tired, especially offensively. Their roster-building on that side of the ball looks uninspired or, at the very least, a little bit lazy.
The Chiefs are one of the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to turning the ball over this season with a whopping 27 giveaways. They are middle-of-the-road in red zone efficiency. They've scored less than 20 points in four of their last seven games. The Chiefs left the door open for other AFC West teams this year, but nobody would take them up on their offer to come and take the division.
I view this KC team as very likely for an early playoff exit. I'm sure I won't have any
