We are officially a quarter of the way through the 2026 NFL season (can we still say that after Week 4 in a 17-week season?), and the injury bug refuses to leave the league and its players alone. However, with Week 5 coming into frame, there is reason for players to rejoice. Starting this week, players can officially return from the injured reserve and PUP lists.
While it is not a guarantee that anyone who started the year on either of those lists will be back this week, we have seen practice windows open, giving a promising outlook for at least some players on the list today. Conversely, others are going on to the injured reserve list heading into this week. The game of football is truly one of give and take in multiple facets.
It is time for your weekly injury update heading into Week 5 of the NFL season. Here are some of the latest updates on a few injuries from the past week, with some being better than others, as is the nature of injuries. Let us dive into the power ranking!
Ranking the most impactful injuries heading into Week 5
1. Seattle Seahawks running back room
In the 2025 NFL playoffs, Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL and missed the rest of the postseason, and started the 2026 campaign on the PUP list. Over the last week, Seattle opened the practice window for Charbonnet, signaling an impending return for the running back heading into the week. It is perfect timing for the Seahawks, as Charbonnet is not the only running back update of the week.
First-round pick Jadarian Price aggravated his chest injury, originally sustained a couple of weeks back. The rookie running back was placed on injured reserve before the start of Week 5 and will miss at least the next four games for the Seahawks as he recovers. George Holani and Emanuel Wilson will form a committee until Charbonnet is cleared to return to game action, and one would expect him to be integrated into the offense more and more each week.
