The Pittsburgh Steelers made a major change to their WR room this offseason. Could they be in line for another one?
Pittsburgh essentially swapped DK Metcalf for George Pickens. The Steelers traded with the Seattle Seahawks for Metcalf and send Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys to pair up with CeeDee Lamb. Metcalf is a better receiver than Pickens, but for years now, Pittsburgh has been looking for a second reliable wide receiver.
Not only did they trade for Metcalf, but they also traded for Jonnu Smith, so GM Omar Khan is clearly trying to acquire as much talent as possible. Well, news broke on Monday that 49ers WR Jauan Jennings wants a new deal or to be traded.
Could Pittsburgh come calling?
Jauan Jennings to the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Jennings has played four years in the NFL, being drafted by San Francisco in the seventh-round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He does have one more year left on his deal, but he clearly is wanting a raise after a year where he just barely missed the 1,000 receiving yard mark.
He finished with 77 receptions, 975 yards, and six touchdowns. If the Niners are willing to make a deal here, Khan would surely pick up the phone. Their biggest move this offseason was obviously signing Aaron Rodgers in free agency, and in what is likely Rodgers' last season in the NFL, it would be wise for the front office in Pittsburgh to load up this roster as much as possible between now and the start of the 2025 NFL Season.
Pittsburgh also made a huge move in the secondary, swapping Minkah Fitzpatrick for Jalen Ramsey. While many of these moves seem questionable at best from Khan, you can't fault him for at least being aggressive when opportunities present themselves.
Making one more notable trade could be the Pittsburgh Steelers swinging a trade for Jauan Jennings.
