It may not be the last time this happens between now and the November 10 NFL Trade Deadline, but the 2027 NFL Draft order has been shaken up significantly (again).
The Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans have completed a blockbuster trade involving All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, one of the most dominant players in the NFL at his position. The Bears sent the Titans 1st-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a 4th-round pick in 2027 for Simmons and a 2028 5th-round pick.
Now, it's time to see how this move shakes up the 2027 NFL Draft order. There have already been four 1st-round picks traded for defensive players, making this the latest in a trend by the league.

That makes it five first-round picks for the 2027 NFL Draft that have now changed hands. That is truly a fascinating development, because the 2027 NFL Draft class was poised to be one of the most coveted crops of prospects in recent memory.
Clearly, the recent player movement around the NFL -- and number of draft selections changing hands -- indicates that NFL teams are believing now (perhaps more than ever) that experienced and proven players are more valuable than unknown picks.
At least, that seems to be true for teams who believe they are in contending windows.
Other players traded for 2027 1st-round picks (so far)
There have now been five 1st-round picks to change hands, which indicates a clear and obvious trend around the NFL. Here are the five players who have been involved in these blockbuster deals:
- Jeffery Simmons, DL
- Micah Parsons, EDGE
- Myles Garrett, EDGE
- Sauce Gardner, CB
- Quinnen Williams, DL
And that might not be the end of it. The Las Vegas Raiders should absolutely be open for business with defensive end Maxx Crosby, who was already traded to the Ravens in the offseason before they took it back.
