When it comes to quarterback Eli Manning and his tenure so far on the New York Giants, one can see why he deserves a new contract. It’s not easy being successful in the city that never sleeps but Manning helped deliver not one but two Super Bowl championships to the big apple. It wasn’t easy but when the Giants needed it, he stepped up and delivered in the clutch to add more to his impressive resume. So why haven’t the Giants extended Manning already?

The Giants have always been a traditional kind of team that handles contract extensions in a very time-consuming manner. They analyze everything before coming up with the final decisions on how long and of course, how much a player will be given to keep them in the organization for years to come.

With a “team first” mentality, the Giants know that they want to put themselves in a position to remain competitive. They would never put all their eggs in one basket which is why for Manning in particular, they want to make sure it doesn’t strap them from being contenders in free agency in the future while also giving him what they feel he’s worth for all that he’s done for the franchise.

Manning is coming off one of his best seasons yet even though the Giants had a terrible 6-10 season, he was actually one of their bright spots of the year. Last year, Manning contributed 4,410 passing yards on 379 completions for 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Considering that Manning went from a career-high 27 interceptions in 2013 to 14 interceptions in 2014 bodes well for his continued progression. With a second year under the new West Coast offensive system installed by Ben McAdoo last season, there is much optimism in the air that Manning could produce one of the best seasons in his career so far in 2015.

Imagine the kind of damage that Manning can cause with the dynamic duo of Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz being on the field at the same time this upcoming season? The possibilities are endless, this is why the Giants should take care of Manning since at the end of the day, he still gives them the best chances to win plenty of football games in the future.

Whether the Giants get a deal done this offseason or even at the end of this upcoming season, it shouldn’t phase Manning one bit when it comes to his performance this year. He’s a symbol of greatness for the Giants considering everything he’s done for the Giants which is why not only does he deserve a respectable contract offer from the team but should get one that effectively makes him retire as a member of the franchise when all is said and done.

Overall, Manning definitely deserves a new contract based on his past achievements and his promising future to once again rise to the top of active quarterbacks playing in the NFL today. He has the weapons around him to push the envelope this upcoming season to have a rebounding year for his team to become contenders again. At the end of it all, he’s the orchestrator on offense that is pivotal to the overall success of the Giants this year and for many more years to come.
