Shonn Greene arrested on multiple charges

Tennessee Titans running back Shonn Greene has recovered from a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the team’s last two games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins, but he was set to return tomorrow against the Houston Texans after practicing and being listed probable on the injury report. It looks like his return to health won’t matter, though, because he was arrested last night.

More from Tennessee Titans

The Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt reports that Greene was arrested on a “handful of charges”, as he has been charged with driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless driving, a handicap parking violation (insert Seinfeld joke here), and resisting stop/halt/frisk. It will be interesting to see what the Titans decide to do with Greene this close to gameday, and it’s important to keep an eye out for all subsequent reports.

Wyatt reports that Greene parked in a handicapped space and tried to leave the scene in his car when he saw a police officer approaching him. He nearly hit the police officer’s car before driving away, and police tried to chase him down. Per Wyatt, Greene eventually turned himself into the police after realizing there was a warrant out for his arrest, but the damage was already done.

Greene comes out of this looking even dumber than George Costanza, and the fact that he resisted arrest twice is mind-boggling. The fact that he turned himself in shouldn’t be applauded, because you could only imagine the case that would have transpired had he decided to keep hiding away. I can’t wait to see what the fallout is from this, because, as a police officer stated, this was a completely avoidable incident and could have ended up being even worse had he hit someone with his vehicle.
