Tennessee Titans Dexter McCluster day-to-day with knee bruise

The Tennessee Titans gave rookie Bishop Sankey a full slate of carries yesterday against the Baltimore Ravens, and while he didn’t average many yards per carry, he did play reasonably well. I wasn’t a fan of Sankey’s game in college, but I did join the #FreeSankey movement, since I think he offers more to the team than the plodding Shonn Greene, and it would be unwise for the far-out-of-contention Titans not to play him.

Part of what helped Sankey earn more carries yesterday was an injury to Dexter McCluster, who left the game with a knee injury and was deemed questionable to return. He, of course, did not get back into game, and his status was immediately cast into doubt. McCluster needed to undergo tests on his knee today, but it sounds like everything is OK for the former Kansas City Chiefs offensive weapon. When I say “OK”, I mean that it doesn’t seem like he’s suffered a long-term injury, but his status for the Week 11 Monday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are coming off of a loss to the New York Jets, remains in question.

According to the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt, Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt stated that McCluster is day-to-day with a knee bruise, and I would consider him a toss-up until further notice. He does get an extra day to rest, though, so we probably won’t know his status until he practices, which might not even be until Friday or Saturday. Since it’s just a bruise, I expect him to be out there, but it’s too early to tell.
