2015 Super Bowl betting: Best odds to win cash

With so many Super Bowl prop bets available, which have the best odds to win you some cash? 2015 Super Bowl betting gets the debate treatment. Dan Salem and Todd Salem debate in today’s NFL TD Sports Debate. Two brothers from New York yell, scream and debate the NFL and sports.

TODD:

I am something of a gambling sharp when it comes to college football. However, everyone knows the biggest gambling moment, event, game, what have you, is the Super Bowl.

Everything from the national anthem length and coin toss at the start to the color of the Gatorade bath at the end is able to be wagered on.

Here is what Bovada has as official bets for this year’s New England Patriots/Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl. You can of course bet on the actual final score and who wins. Boring! But they have quarter scoring, MVP odds, player props, team props and anything else you want to lose money on. Even Groundhog Day parlays!

We’re here to help the people though. I want to give out five bets I absolutely love for this game. You give me five of your own or we can double-down on a few if we agree.

1) Will Idina Menzel forget or omit at least 1 word of the official US National Anthem?

No -800

I know, the odds are terrible, but she is a pro. I don’t see Idina getting nervous on this stage. One perfect sing-through means easy money.

2) How many times will Gisele Bundchen be shown on TV during the game?

Under 1.5

These types of bets are always overblown. The famous significant others only get shown now if it happens naturally. I don’t see why she would come up unless they were making a point to do so. Al Michaels doesn’t have time to waste in his telecast.

3) Odds to win game MVP

Rob Gronkowski 9/1

Those are pretty great odds for the best and most fearsome offensive weapon in the game on either team.

4) Total Rushing Attempts in the game – Shane Vereen (NE)

Under 3.5

Some games, New England rarely runs the ball at all. When they do commit to it, Shane Vereen is never the beneficiary. He’ll be a factor in the receiving game, but Vereen hasn’t been given more than one carry in either playoff game up to this point.

5) What will be higher on games played February 1st, total points by Delon Wright or total first half points by the Seahawks?

Total Points Delon Wright (Pick)

Follow the logic here. Utah is a very good basketball team; Delon Wright is its best player and leading scorer, as well as one of the best players in the nation. The Utes play USC on Sunday, a very poor basketball team. In fact, the first time these two teams played, Utah blew out the Trojans. Wright can easily get above his season average of 14 points here.

Can Seattle score at least two touchdowns in the first half alone? I’m dubious.

DAN:

Personally I’d rather wager on the outcome of the Super Bowl than on anything related to the National Anthem. However, with the New England Patriots currently at -2 points, that is certainly not a good bet to take. When only the best bets with the best chances to win cash are concerned, one has to take extra care.

Here are my five best bets for the 2015 Super Bowl. We are not in agreement.

1) Will Shane Vereen (NE) score a TD in the game?

Yes +210

These odds are too good to pass up. Vereen may not get many rushing attempts, but the odds of him getting passes his way are very high. Add in his dual threat to score and this bet is a keeper.

2) What will Tom Brady do first, throw a TD or an INT?

Throw a TD pass -190

This is a pure hedge on Tom Brady. He’s undefeated in the Super Bowl against everyone except the New York Giants. Put your money on Tom.

3) Bill Belichick hoodie type, sleeves cut or intact

Sleeves cut -175

With the game taking place in Arizona, this is as close a lock as you can get. His hoodie will be cut and you will win money.

4) How many times will “Deflated” balls be mentioned during the game?

Under 3

I know there isn’t an official announcer’s code, but after beating this story to death for two weeks, I believe it will get swept under the rug in lieu of the actual football game. No one wants to say ‘deflated balls’ any longer. It’s not manly.

5) Odds to win game MVP

Marshawn Lynch 5/1

You may like the odds for Gronkowski, but if the Patriots win, it will be Tom Brady hoisting the MVP trophy. However, if the Seahawks get the victory it will be because of Lynch. He was the workhorse for Seattle’s offense all season. Five to one is a solid line. Put your money on Marshawn.

As a special note for 2015 Super Bowl betting, I recommend avoiding the Ground Hog Day parlay. No matter how strongly you feel about the Patriots or Seahawks winning, no one ever knows what that little rodent will do.
