The Verdict:
Naming starters before pads are worn is a fool’s game, but my eyes will be set on Quinten Rollins to earn the inside track on the slot cornerback job due to a playing style that is better geared or that role. This is not a plain judgement of skill, however, as Damarious Randall could prove to be immensely valuable as an outside option when opposing teams stretch Green Bay wide with four receivers.
Don’t sleep on Micah Hyde, either. Green Bay’s Swiss Army Knife should be moved around Dom Capers’ scheme with more freedom than ever, and has shown some encouraging signs as the slot corner himself. With Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Morgan Burnett firmly entrenched at safety, Hyde will be critical to the Packers should the two rookies need additional time to grow beyond the end of training camp.
