Green Bay Packers have Top Fantasy Football Studs of NFL Week 4

Lots of sweet fantasy football matchups headline NFL week 4, but the Green Bay Packers top them all against San Francisco. Your top fantasy performers for NFL week 4, right here. Dan Salem and Todd Salem debate in today’s NFL Sports Debate. Check out more of the brothers in Seesaw Sports Debate on BuzzChomp. Two brothers from New York yell, scream, and debate sports.

TODD:

We are coming off of an intense week of fantasy performances heading into Week 4 of the NFL season. So many unexpected players were sources for seemingly unending points and value last time out. Will that happen again this week? Probably not, but who knows. As always, the injuries to star players are mounting. That leaves the door open for unheralded guys to make an impact.

Here are my picks to have the best fantasy weekend for Week 4.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers

This one is easy, but it still shouldn’t be ignored. Rodgers is the best player in the NFL, coming off of an effortless five-touchdown game against a good but banged-up defense now set to face arguably the worst team in the league. Sign me up!

It is hard to overstate how incredibly bad the San Francisco 49ers have been. An inexplicable Week 1 win over Minnesota notwithstanding, San Fran has gotten absolutely demolished in each of its other games. The defense is allowing 40+ points per game over its last two, and that’s no thanks to its offense, who is turning the football over faster than parents handing out candy on Halloween.

The stories of whether or not Colin Kaepernick should continue to start for this team are flooding the airwaves…until you remember that his backup is Blaine Gabbert. Rodgers is going to torch this team no matter who he has healthy on the outside.

Chargers running back Melvin Gordon

Gordon’s rookie campaign hasn’t gotten off to a bad start; it’s simply been unremarkable. Other stories have passed him by, but he’s been serviceable. He has yet to score a touchdown, has a fumble and is a non-factor in the passing game. These things have all limited his ceiling in the early going, but get ready for him to break out. In comes the worst rush defense in the NFL, the Cleveland Browns.

San Diego hosts Cleveland this weekend where Gordon will get a chance to run against the unit that allowed the Jets, Titans and Raiders to all surpass 150 on the ground. These aren’t exactly premiere rushing attacks either; they all rank between 10th and 20th in the NFL right now, counting those Browns performances.

Soon we will add the Chargers to that list as well, behind Gordon’s effort.

DAN:

Can I nominate the entire Green Bay Packers offense for fantasy star of the week? If Arizona was able to light San Francisco on fire, imagine what Green Bay will do? Instead I’ll look past Green Bay’s star quarterback, who is certainly going to shine, and highlight a less heralded wide receiver.

Packers wide receiver James Jones

Jones shined last week against Kansas City, putting up over 130 yards and a touchdown. With Davonte Adams still banged up, expect Jones to once again get a lot of targets against a weak defense. With San Francisco likely keying on Randall Cobb, the field will be open for Jones to shine. If for some crazy reason he’s still available in your league, open up a new browser tab and add him immediately. More than five touchdowns is not out of the question for Rodgers, meaning James Jones will be getting his fair share.

Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford

Its becoming a trendy pick for a reason, but the facts remain true. Philadelphia’s offense finally found some momentum against the New York Jets, a team with an excellent secondary. Carrying that into this week’s matchup with the Washington Redskins will do wonder’s for Bradford and his fantasy performance.

Its true the Redskins defense has been the team’s strength, yet their ability to stop the run will push Bradford to finally break out in the passing game once and for all. Washington will not be able to stop Philadelphia, in large part because Bradford will find the deep ball. His stats have decreased progressively since week one, but that is simply a small sample size for a quarterback finding his legs on a new team. The division rivalry brings out his best, and Sam Bradford punches through for a superstar fantasy performance.
