Philadelphia Eagles: 5 thoughts following win over Giants
By Phil Naegely
Slow Start Doesn’t Hurt Them
Once again the Eagles couldn’t start a game well. In fact, the Giants scored on their first drive in quick fashion. Yet, the defense responded and didn’t allow the Giants to score anymore points in the first half. They also bailed out an Eagles offense that needed time to get their rhythm in sync.
In this game the slow start didn’t hurt the Eagles. However, that’s because they are facing a very below average New York Giants side that gave the Eagles second chance after second chance.
Despite the Eagles’ hurry-up offense, the Eagles defense stepped up with three turnovers on the night. Philadelphia lost the turnover battle, but that didn’t matter in a game that both teams didn’t seem to want to win. Overall, there should be high praise for the Eagles defense. They kept the Giants to less than 20 first downs on the night.
For a second straight week, the Eagles defense deserves a game ball for not only keeping the Eagles in the game, but by keeping them in the lead for most of the night.
