It was the Odell Beckham Jr. Show for the New York Giants on Sunday night. But was it a hit or a flop?

Queue the lights, camera, action and watch Odell Beckham Jr.! All eyes were on the talented wide receiver heading into Sunday night’s matchup between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers. You might as well have called it the OBJ Show.

The Giants gameplan was to get the ball to their star receiver early and give him the opportunity to show that he is a vital member of this team, not a distraction. In addition to throwing the ball deep to Beckham, the team (unsuccessfully) attempted a trick play that called for Beckham to throw the ball and move the chains after receiving a reverse pass. With no open receivers in sight and Packers defenders closing in, he held onto the ball and went out of bounds.

Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t put up the numbers that many expected him to against Green Bay’s 29th-ranked pass defense that was without starting cornerbacks Sam Shields (concussion) and Damarious Randall (groin). He finished the night with only 56 yards on five receptions.

Yet, he was Eli’s favorite target throughout the game and for good reason. With about three minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Giants down by 14 points, OBJ made a beautiful touchdown grab. He leapt up high to meet the ball halfway, secured the catch, and tapped his toes in bounds for the touchdown. It was a moment that showed Beckham’s focus and determination. Even sweeter, it was his first touchdown of the season.

The touchdown grab also proved what Odell Beckham Jr. brings to the New York Giants. His athleticism is breath-taking and with the game on the line, Beckham’s athleticism helps put the Giants back in the game. His passion and heart bring life to a lackluster offense that’s struggled to get things going and win all season.

After his breath-taking touchdown grab, Odell Beckham Jr. made the best move with all eyes on him. He didn’t break out in dance as he normally does. No, instead he went over to the kicking net and gave it the biggest hug, thus squashing his beef with it. It was a heartwarming moment and one that shows that Odell Beckham Jr. is still having fun with football.

What can we expect from the OBJ Show in its next episode?

Well, you never know what you’re going to get from him. But Beckham will have the opportunity to continue on this upward trajectory next week as the Giants return home to face the Baltimore Ravens, who are coming off two home losses. It will be a challenge for the Giants offense against a solid Ravens pass defense.

However, this game should present more opportunities for Beckham to showcase his talent since Baltimore’s pass defense has allowed the sixth most passing touchdowns in the league.
