3. They have some serious kickers in Oakland

When regular placekicker Sebastian Janikowski was lost to injury the Raiders turned to Giorgio Tavecchio to take his place. Tavecchio was familiar with the team as he’s been part of their preseason roster since 2014. Used primarily as a placeholder for Janikowski, he’s now making the case for a full time job un the NFL, even if it isn’t with Oakland.

After two weeks he’s 4-of-4 kicking, including a 52-yard make last week. On Sunday against the Jets he only attempted one field goal, but was 6-of-6 on extra point attempts. He hasn’t looked like a guy who never kicked in a regular season before this year.

He’s not the only guy in Oakland that can kick though. Punter Marquette King has also displayed a great ability to kick the ball for Oakland. In three punts against New York, King placed the ball inside the 20-yard line twice and had 156 yards. He’s also one of the most exciting punters to watch simply because of his celebrations following his great kicks.

Usually kicking is the least exciting part of a team’s repertoire, but that’s not the case with the Oakland Raiders. Not shocking though considering this is the franchise that was willing to spend a first round pick on Janikowski back in 2000.
