Jacksonville Jaguars: Total domination the narrative in rout of Colts
By Larry Brake
The Jacksonville Jaguars routed the Indianapolis Colts 27-0 with a dominating team effort to move to 4-3 on the season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars crushed the Indianapolis Colts in every aspect possible in a crucial Week 7 matchup between AFC South rivals. Blake Bortles surgically shredded the Colts secondary. Yannick Ngakoue recorded 2.5 sacks to lead the Jaguars front seven.
Many fans worried that the Jaguars would not be able to run the football due to Leonard Fournette’s injury and ruled out of the game. Since Fournette would not be playing, Chris Ivory would have to carry the load. T.J. Yeldon stole the show by rushing for over 100 yards, in his first appearance this season.
Bortles led Jacksonville down the field to score on their first possession of the game. Bortles hit Marcedes Lewis for a 24 yard pass. He did a very good job of spreading the ball around to his receivers. The Jaguars took the early lead 7-0 after an Ivory touchdown.
Keelan Cole hauled in a 52-yard pass on the second Jacksonville possession. Bortles hit Lewis for a touchdown to widen the lead to 14-0. The Jaguars went 70 yards on four plays while taking 1:51 off the game clock.

Bortles completed 18 passes for 330 yards and one touchdown. Most important is the fact that he was very efficient and made good decisions when throwing the ball. Bortles had a quarterback rating of 124.7, his best this season, and did not throw an interception.
The Jaguars front seven sacked the Colts quarterback ten times. Calais Campbell had two sacks to add to his team leading total to 10. Jacksonville’s crushing defensive performance forced seven Indianapolis punts and held the Colts to 0-3 on fourth-down conversions.
As a team, the Jaguars had 518 total offensive yards. They held the ball for over 30 minutes while running 65 plays. Even though they had two turnovers, it was not a factor at all.

Jacksonville has proved that they can win big on the road. Jacksonville has a bye in Week 8 and hopefully all injuries will have time to heal. To be a playoff contender though, Jacksonville has to win at home when they return to action.
