Chicago Bears: 3 Takeaways vs. Panthers in Week 7
3. The Bears find ways to win instead of ways to lose
For the past half-decade, we’ve seen the Bears lose games in a variety of ways. Missed easy field goals, interceptions in the red zone late in games, kickoff and punt returns for touchdowns, and completed passes against the defense happened way too many times.

Now, instead of wondering how the Bears decide to lose a game this week, we can start to wonder how they’ll figure out a way to win. Yes, it’s still in the early stages, but they’ve had close games against the Atlanta Falcons, the Minnesota Vikings, the Baltimore Ravens and others. They are learning to win these type of games.
The Bears went through the nerves last week against the Ravens. Okay, they gave up their lead, but they didn’t give up like they would in other games. They battled and ultimately won the game.
The same was so in this game. The offense just couldn’t do anything to help the defense. Time and again the defense had to come up big and it did. In the second half, the offense garnered just one first down. That first down came on the last series that clinched the game. That was the offensive highlight of the half. At one point in the second half, they had four consecutive three-and-outs. Incredibly they still found a way to win by two touchdowns.
With the win, the Bears matched their win total of last season. Last week, they ended their 10-game road losing streak, and their back-to-back wins make it the first time they did that since November of 2015. We could be seeing the team turn a corner. It’d be nice to expect the team to come up with a winning play rather than find a way to lose. It’s such a pleasure seeing the defense develop into a menacing one again.
Now when they can develop the offense…
