3. Boise State has been good to the Cowboys

Each NFL team seems to have a certain collegiate program that catches their attention. For a while the university that did that for the Cowboys was Boise State, and the players they have found there are still making waves. In 2008 they selected cornerback Orlando Scandrick in the fifth round. They went back to the Broncos in 2012 for defensive end Tyrone Crawford, who they chose in the third round.

Again in 2014, they tabbed a Broncos defender for their roster. This time they traded their second round and third round selections for the right to draft defensive end Demarcus Lawrence. While Lawrence has been amazing this season, he wasn’t the only Boise State product to shine in Week 8.

Crawford and Scandrick were part of the play that turned the game around for good for the Boys. Trailing 13-7, Washington was setting up for a field goal to take a two-score lead. Crawford had different plans as he blocked the kick, which was alertly picked up by Scandrick who ran it back 86 yards to the Washington four-yard line.

Dallas took the lead promptly and never let up after that. It also wasn’t then end of the day for the Boise State boys. Crawford later added a strip-sack of Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins, and Lawrence pounced on the loose ball. Just for good measure, Lawrence and Scandrick also each added a sack in the game as well. It was just a nice reminder of how good Boise State has been to the Cowboys. Well, other than backup quarterback Kellen Moore that is.
