Morgan Burnett, SS, Green Bay Packers

For the last couple of seasons, Vikings fans have seemingly been split on their opinions of starting strong safety Andrew Sendejo. Well, if you ask me, I’d say Minnesota’s secondary could use an upgrade across from Pro Bowler Harrison Smith.

It just so happens a pretty good strong safety could be hitting the open market in 2018. I’m talking about Morgan Burnett, who’s been a staple of the Green Bay Packers secondary for years. Not only would he be an excellent addition for the Vikings, but taking one of the Packers’ best defenders would make this a double whammy.

Burnett would immediately slot in as the starting strong safety, allowing the Vikings to unload Sendejo without incurring any dead cap space. It gets them out of his overpriced deal (although money doesn’t matter in this hypothetical) while giving Minnesota one of the most reliable veteran safeties in the league.

Just imagine the look on Mike McCarthy face when the announcement was made that Burnett had signed with the Vikings. Clay Matthews may cry. Aaron Rodgers would probably go make another State Farm commercial. It would be glorious.

Like most of the names on this list, Burnett seems unlikely to be donning the purple and gold anytime soon. Still, it’s an intriguing option to ponder.
