The draft should really start to get interesting when the New York Giants go on the clock with the second overall pick. The Giants are a complete wildcard here. They could be in the quarterback market and could just as easily simply take a big-time prospect at another position at number two. However, if they don’t want to take a quarterback, trading down is probably their best option.

More from NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills appear to be chomping at the bit to trade up for a quarterback and getting to number two would be ideal. In this trade scenario, the Bills would give up three first round picks (two this year and one next year) and a third round selection to get up to number two. The Giants fall back to the 12th pick, but they land some serious draft capital for their troubles.

After spending big to trade up, the Bills pinpoint Josh Allen as their franchise quarterback in this 2018 NFL mock draft. There is no consensus on Allen as a quarterback prospect. Some see him as a bust waiting to happen, while others already seem to be fitting him for his Hall of Fame jacket.

There is no denying Allen’s raw talent. He looks the part as a big quarterback prospect with a rocket arm. There is not a throw on the field that Allen cannot make, but his decision making ability is shaky at best and his accuracy is lacking at all areas. Allen’s 56.2% competition percentage in college is concerning, as is his inability to play at a high level against Power Five schools.

Allen is undoubtedly a risky prospect, but his upside is for real as well. NFL teams seem to be falling in love with Allen, and him falling out of the top three in this draft is extremely unlikely. In this 2018 NFL mock draft, the Bills pay big for a risky quarterback in Allen. That being said, if this pick hits, they immediately become a serious threat in the AFC.
