Maybe there’s something in the water in Kansas City. It’s been pretty apparent that the Houston Texans have become awfully fond of the offensive lineman that Andy Reid‘s team has produced in recent years. A couple of offseasons ago, the team added guard Jeff Allen via free agency. He’s been the club’s primary right guard for the last two years and made a combined 26 regular-season starts over that span.

Now the Texans have turned around and signed another former Kansas City Chiefs’ blocker in 26-year-old guard Zach Fulton. The 6-5, 315-pound blocker spent four seasons with Reid’s club. A sixth-round draft choice in 2014 from the University of Tennessee, Fulton was a 16-game starter as a rookie. All told, he’s been in Kansas City’s opening lineup 46 times in 63 regular-season outings. He’s also made a combined four playoff appearances the past three years with the Chiefs.

The Texans’ issues along the offensive line are well-documented and beside Fulton, free agency also brings guard Senio Kelemete (New Orleans Saints) and tackle Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills). Houston finished a respectable 14th in the league in rushing a season ago. But only the Indianapolis Colts (56) allowed more sacks than O’Brien’s club (54). Hence a little more muscle up the middle and a seasoned veteran to pair with young left tackle Julie’n Davenport makes Fulton an ideal addition.
