If the reports are true that tight end Rob Gronkowski is being shopped, the Dallas Cowboys would be wise to see how they can bring him to town

There’s been a lot of talk this offseason about things getting testy between tight end Rob Gronkowski and the New England Patriots. The latest coming out of Foxborough is that the superstar could be on the move. There are conflicting reports that say that there’s no truth to a Gronk trade. However, if he is being shopped, the Dallas Cowboys would be smart to see what the asking price is.

Should Dallas find a way to pry Gronk from the Pats hands, it would solve two problems they’re currently facing.

With Jason Witten retiring during the draft, Dallas has no proven tight end on the roster, which Gronkowski surely is. He also helps fill the void of Dez Bryant. After cutting the underperforming wide receiver, they’re absent a true No. 1 receiving threat. Again, that’s an area where Gronkowski shines.

One of the biggest reasons to say no would be the durability issues, but Gronkowski has only missed extended time in one of he past four seasons. For those three seasons where he played the majority of the games he put up elite numbers.

In 2017, he had 69 receptions for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2015, he went for 1,176 yards and 11 touchdowns off 72 receptions and had 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns with 82 catches in 2014.

No player on the Dallas roster has even sniffed such production.

On top of his receiving prowess, Gronkowski is one of he better ‘complete’ tight ends in the game. He’s a willing and able blocker that can perform at a high level in this area, which would be key for success in Dallas.

It won’t be anytime soon that a player of this caliber, that can help in so many ways will be available. Dallas would be foolish not to explore this one.
