New York Giants: 3 Players headed for a breakout season

3. Cody Latimer, Wide Receiver
Previously a second-round pick of the Denver Broncos, Cody Latimer was expected to become a stout receiving option in the NFL. While playing collegiately at Indiana, Latimer developed a reputation as a potential No. 1 receiver.
He was an incredibly athletic prospect — with a background in basketball. His great leaping ability and 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame had the Broncos excited about what they were getting with the No. 56 pick.

That excitement soon waned and it wasn’t long before Latimer was a forgotten man in the Mile-High City. He played in just eight games as a rookie and recorded two catches for 23 yards. He did little else the next two seasons before finally having his best campaign in 2017.
Still, it wasn’t a huge season to speak of as Latimer managed just 19 receptions for 287 yards and two touchdowns. While it wasn’t great, it was enough to get the Giants to give him an opportunity.
As it stands now, Latimer has a great shot to get plenty of work with the first team. He could even see himself as a starter alongside Beckham, Jr., and Shepard who mans the slot. If so, expect Eli Manning to find a rhythm with him and get the ball to his newest weapon.
While we aren’t looking at 1,000-yards by any stretch, there’s plenty of reason to believe Latimer is ready for the best season of his young career.
