Divisional opponents

The Los Angeles Rams aren’t a team to be messed with. They’re a playoff squad that added Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, and Ndamukong Suh. I’m not disputing that on paper the Rams should run away with the division, they should. It will be a huge disappointment if they don’t.

That being said, the Seahawks other two divisional are very shaky. The Arizona Cardinals do have David Johnson returning from injury but their defense is still in shambles and their best quarterback is Sam Bradford (and who knows how many games he’ll play). The don’t have the depth or talent to make a run at the division crown and should provide two wins for the Seahawks.

The San Francisco 49ers do offer a bit of an unknown with Jimmy Garoppolo. But the rest of the team suffers from the same ailments as the Cardinals. They have an incomplete defense and actually have fewer offensive weapons than the Cardinals. The 49ers did add Sherman in the offseason though, setting up a two-part revenge game series that will be one of the better spectacles in the NFL this year.

The Seahawks will at least split with the 49ers but should still be able to take both games, giving them four divisional wins on the season. I wouldn’t predict a win against the Rams, that’s a little to ambitious for preseason talk.

Just floating this out there, there’s a chance the Rams new additions prove more disruptive than helpful and end up messing with the team’s chemistry. Those three guys I mentioned earlier do tend to let their emotions run hot and aren’t afraid to show them. Either way, the Seahawks will be at least the second best team in their division and will benefit from it.
