Chicago Bears: 3 Big takeaways from win vs. Buccaneers in Week 4
This is the dynamic, high-powered offense we were promised
Even though the Chicago Bears owned a 2-1 record after three weeks, fans and football experts alike wondered aloud about Trubisky’s and the offense’s struggles. They come out like gangbusters many times but then settle and struggle at other times. Trubisky struggled to throw the deep ball, and some wondered if Matt Nagy put too much on the young quarterback’s plate.

None of that happened against Tampa Bay. Trubisky had a good control of the offense while Nagy moved his pieces around and disguised his plan. He even played some trickery by having backup quarterback Chase Daniel and Trubisky together on a play (it resulted in a Taylor Gabriel shovel pass touchdown reception).
The offense really clicked and just about everything the Bears tried worked. The trips receivers Nagy had on one side or the other were covered very well and confused the Bucs’ secondary all game long. When they went out, almost always there was an open receiver. Almost always, Trubisky hit that open man.
Everyone was involved in the offense. Kevin White didn’t make a reception but he made two key blocks on long passing plays. Trey Burton had just two catches, but also had 86 yards and a touchdown. He also got a big block on a Trubisky 23-yard run on the first series.
This is what Bears fans wanted to see from a Nagy offense. This is the offense we all saw him run in Kansas City last season that ended up ranked in the top five in the NFL. Trubisky is getting a handle on this offense. We may not see this again, but if we can see good, consistent play out of him the Bears may make noise in the playoffs.
