3. Demario Davis

Defensively, the New Orleans Saints haven’t been great so far. Against the Giants, they made some tremendous plays. It was exciting to watch the defense finally come together. It was as if the puzzle pieces had finally fit together and the defense proved themselves.

They did let the Giants put some points on the board and had some blown coverage, but they did excel with their quarterback play. The team was able to get in Eli Manning’s face, pressure him and take advantage of the team’s poor offensive line play. Then again, that’s not exactly hard to do as everyone seems to be shredding their offensive line.

One player that stood out was Demario Davis. A free-agent pickup from the New York Jets, Davis made sure we knew his name. Against the Giants, Davis sacked Eli Manning twice and had 11 combined tackles. Defensively, he was the star of the game and it’s hard to imagine him slowing down anytime soon.

Against the Redskins, be sure to keep an eye on Davis. See if he can get pressure on Alex Smith and hopefully add a few more sacks to his total. Maybe he’ll even get a few tackles as he recorded a Saints high of 11. If Davis plays even half as good as he did against the Giants, the Redskins are in trouble.

Even though Davis is all about the team as a whole, he’s definitely worth zeroing in on when the defense hits the field.
