4. Pittsburgh Steelers

When it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, there is often going to be a lens focused on the offense. That’s clearly their strength, with or without Le’Veon Bell on the field. Having said that, their play on defense has held them back tremendously at the start of the 2018 season.

Part of that is indeed the holes that this team has at linebacker after losing Ryan Shazier last season. However, there are also and have been glaring holes in the secondary. Whether it’s veteran Joe Haden, Artie Burns or Cam Sutton, this has been a rough group to watch so far this season.

Even still, the Steelers are in a position to still compete for a playoff spot out of the AFC North. Patrick Peterson would, in turn, at least help to shore up that weak secondary. He would give Mike Tomlin’s defense a viable playmaker against the pass, something they’re sorely lacking and that would help them tremendously moving forward.

3. Carolina Panthers

Since allowing Josh Norman to walk in free agency, the Carolina Panthers have been searching for answers in the secondary. That’s not to say that keeping Norman would’ve solved their issues, but it’s the timeline that’s presented itself for this team.

While James Bradberry and rookie Donte Jackson have been okay thus far, the depth and the overall quality of the Panthers cornerback group is lacking in an obvious way. They don’t have a player that can consistently be relied upon to lock down opposing receivers or to make plays and generate turnovers.

As Carolina looks to compete in the highly competitive NFC and NFC South, they need to make a move to try and make some headway. Adding Peterson would be a move that would allow them to do just that, giving them a stud on the outside of their defense and improving a susceptible pass defense.
