3. Get something for Allen Hurns

Landing Amari Cooper suddenly makes the Cowboys receiving corps look formidable. Cole Beasley can return to being the slot guy who teams forget about on third downs and Michael Gallup can be a developing rookie, rather than their main threat.

As for Allen Hurns, he could wind up being lost in the shuffle. Starting Gallup opposite Cooper makes more sense as you want the rookie to get the reps. We’ve also already mentioned Beasley and Dak Prescott seems to have a better rapport with Deonte Thompson than Hurns.

This doesn’t mean Hurns is a bad player though. He’s just suddenly not a good fit in Dallas — and their inability to get him going proves it may not have been the best fit from the start.

Thankfully, there are many receiver-needy teams that wouldn’t mind landing a veteran player on an affordable contract like Hurns has. One team in particular who could use him would be the Cleveland Browns, who have had a lot of injury concerns at the position.

Dallas won’t land a great pick (most likely a day three selection) by trading Hurns, but after giving up a first round pick for Cooper, every little bit will help. It’s also the right thing to do by Hurns, who wasn’t thrilled with his role even before Cooper came over.
