Russell Wilson

A perfect passer rating is 158.3 and that’s exactly what Wilson recorded on Sunday. He completed 14 of his 17 pass attempts for 248 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball twice for 15 yards. A quarterback having a perfect passer rating is a rare feat and it proves that Wilson is ready to lead the Seahawks on a playoff run.

It’s fair to say Wilson struggled through the first few weeks of the season. He hardly looked like the playmaking, efficient MVP candidate we say last season. Everything has turned around though, as his perfect passer rating this week shows.

Wilson attempted 26 throws per game in 2018, which is far fewer than the 34.5 he averaged last season. He has more than 540 pass attempts in each of the last two seasons while in his first four years he averaged 434 pass attempts per season. However it seems like his pass attempts numbers will dip back down this season and be closer to 400 than 500.

The reason for this drop is Wilson doesn’t have to throw as much because the weight of the team is no longer squarely on his shoulders. The running game has helped immensely and has released his true potential. Wilson has been more efficient this season than in the last two years and his quarterback rating reflects that. If the Seahawks offense can keep running the ball well, Wilson will make sure his team makes the playoffs.
